Ballet, Pointe, and Variations instructor
Ilana grew up in Irvine, California, where she trained at the Academy of Dance and studied ballet in the R.A.D. (Royal Academy of Dance) syllabus under Merle Sepel and Rebecca Tsivkin. She completed every R.A.D. examination and was one of three applicants in the country to be awarded the Solo Seal in 2006. Ilana received her BFA in Dance from the University of Arizona, where she had the opportunity to dance demi-soloist roles in Balanchine works such as Serenade and Four Temperaments, as well as faculty and student jazz, tap, and modern pieces. Following graduation, Ilana moved to San Diego to join the corps de ballet of the California Ballet Company, and was promoted to soloist in 2013. She performed roles including ‘Dewdrop’ and ‘Snow Queen’ in The Nutcracker, ‘Cygnet’ in Swan Lake, and ‘Princess Florina’ in Sleeping Beauty. While in San Diego, Ilana started teaching ballet to children and adults of all ages at various studios and schools throughout the county. In 2014, Ilana moved to San Francisco and continued to pursue teaching and dancing, most notably performing with Menlowe Ballet, Company C Contemporary Ballet, and as part of the dance corps of the San Francisco Opera in Les Troyens and Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg. Ilana officially became a Fletcher Pilates teacher in September 2017 after completing her Foundational Training through Studio 4 Pilates in Half Moon Bay, California, and her Professional Training at Body Works Pilates in Tucson, Arizona in December. Her teaching meshes the philosophies of Pilates and traditional ballet technique to show dancers how to stay injury free while maintaining a high level of performance.
